Attention to naughty undergowns: BAS X ZEEMAN
During Paris fashion week observing underground (aka le metro) shopping gestures, I found chain retailer TATI’s check-bags density always higher. I often wonder if it’s just a coincidence or the appetite corporate runways spark that advocates mass consumerism. Universally, democratizing high-end fashion has invaded all market layers for more than a decade; making design more accessible to all social layers. What TATI represents in France, Zeeman (Sailor) does in the Netherlands, and there is one defiant designer in charge of a revolution: BAS KOSTERS.
His colorful playground (now a huge bed) has always been associated to manifestations of joy, this time represented by colorful sleepwear and underwear designed by Kosters himself. The collaboration aims to supply design at lower or lover prices. With shaped pajama pants, sleep-shirts, nightdress and hipsters all having the same comfort as American 70’s vintage sportswear (his main inspiration); Bas’s designs make us want to share some fun before bedtime until Daddy Bas screams -“it’s time to sleep”.
Be sure he will do that! Kosters has also incorporated graphic messages such as sailor tattoos into the designs on natural fabrics. Bas Kosters sleepwear and underwear is available at Zeeman stores in The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, Germany and France.
