Couture SS2026: Viktor&Rolf’s ‘DIAMOND KITE’

‘DIAMOND KITE’

“For Spring/Summer 2026, Viktor&Rolf take flight with Diamond Kite, a collection that reimagines freedom through the lens of childhood wonder, imagination, and the transformative power of elevation.

At its heart lies the kite: a timeless symbol of escape and transcendence. This poetic motif becomes both structural and spiritual, shaping the silhouettes, the movement, and the very spirit of the collection.

As the collection unfolds, each look navigates the space between concept and construction. Couture craftsmanship meets inventive engineering in pieces that are playful and experimental, merging theatricality with practicality.

The collection emphasizes duality, contrasting austere, densely black silhouettes – severe and almost monumental – with colorful, ephemeral wisps of tulle that evoke lightness and delicacy. Black becomes the collection’s foundation – a graphic canvas that outlines each look with precision and clarity. ‘We go back to black so often because it’s the best color for silhouettes’ note the designers. Against this architectural base, flashes of color emerge like crayon sketches of optimism: childlike yet sophisticated, spontaneous yet deliberate.

The collection culminates in a breathtaking “kite” finale – a tribute to the iconic Kate Bush album cover that has inspired the designers since the very beginning. The final look appears suspended between earth and sky, a jubilant embodiment of aspiration and grounding, flight and stillness.

Diamond Kite celebrates the paradoxical: playful yet sincere, naïve yet complex, fleeting yet anchored. It is couture as escapism – a reminder that fashion, at its most transcendent, can lift us above reality while still reflecting it.

In this collection, Viktor&Rolf act as both architect and magician, conjuring garments that soar – crafted illusions that transform the invisible currents of imagination into form. The result is a vision of hope and upliftment, where fashion itself becomes a vessel for flight.”
