SCHUELLER DE WAAL FW2017: ‘the women wearing the trousers’

By way of their latest collection, SCHUELLER DE WAAL introduces trousers to the wardrobe of SDW-women everywhere. The compact collection ranges from classic pleated tailoring pants to micro-flare hip-pants to trumpet-legged skate pants. The styles are realized in diverse materials and techniques, including the inside-out-look, block stripe lining patchwork, macramé-finished volants. Wool qualities are mixed and matched, all enhancing the quirky signature of the designers.

SDW’s ideas for these pants were foreshadowed in earlier collections of the duo. The pieces evolved around innovations of styles appearing in earlier collections, such as the ruffle-sleeve blouse, the ruffle mini-dress and turtleneck, and the oversized coat. These all reimagined completely the straightforward look that would appear in FW2017.

With an intentional focus on the wearability of the clothes and the stable framework of the collection, there is indication of room for growth and inspiration for autonomous additions to these core-pieces in the future.
