“CUT FROM MANY CLOTHS”

Fourteen graduates from the Royal Danish Academy’s MA programme Fashion, Clothing and Textiles – New Landscapes for Change presented their thesis collections at Copenhagen Fashion Week this August, marking both the culmination of their studies and the beginning of their professional careers.

Grounded in tradition and ready for change – a new generation of fashion designers navigates the complexity of being young today as they show their thesis collections at Copenhagen Fashion Week this August.

Across the 14 collections, recurring themes emerge around identity, belonging, uncertainty and hope. Together, the projects offer a portrait of a generation navigating contemporary challenges while finding meaning through design, community and personal relationships.

Their collections demonstrate a thoughtful engagement with materials and craftsmanship, while also highlighting the importance of connection, community, and friendship.

“This year’s graduation exhibition demonstrates an exceptionally high academic and creative standard, alongside a remarkable diversity of approaches and perspectives. The students’ projects show how fashion and clothing can serve as exploratory tools for understanding identity, culture, sustainability, and the social challenges of our time,” says Marcus Aminaka Wilmont, assistant Professor and Head of Programme at Fashion, Clothing and Textiles – New Landscapes for Change at the Royal Danish Academy.
