Title

AZZEDINE ALAÏA in the 21st century at Groninger Museum(NL)

The womanizer, the dress master, the exquisite fashion merchant, and the house that has been able to transfer itself into a new challenging decade without revamping the designer’s chief: Azzedine Alaïa. His sculptural work from the last decade returns to the Groninger Museum, including those pieces woman are attached to, with the wonderful associations and special moments dominated by femininity.

As once a loyal connoisseur said – my husband collects watches and cars, I collect Alaïa’s garments.

The museum will display his work by dividing it into techniques and materials. Materials included are, velvet, fur, wool, leather, cotton, animal skins, chiffon and knitwear, accentuating his diverse craftsmanship. The museum proves once again how possible is to decentralize fashion from the most known museums worldwide, and how relevant it is for the institution to have the Tunisian couturier embarked in such a prestigious collaboration. The show promises to be one of the favourite Christmas destinations for a local and international audience, curated by Mark Wilson.
