HEXA BY KUHO SS2012 and The Romanov Dynasty
South Korean label Hexa by Kuho (Mr.Kuho Jung) brings to Paris another minimal proposal, though distant enough from being the static woman SS2012 introduces. Viewing the garments hanging in the showroom the first impression is dominated by monochromatic tailoring, when getting closer there’s plenty of subtlety brought into the wool-bonded and top-coated fabrics.
Full masculine looks are treated with twists of softness and intimacy – for example a printed imperial-badge lining. Even the accessories, fringed platform sandals or clutches, are designed from a male point of view. Trimmings are often the construction itself with harsh stitching creating architectural frameworks for the garments. Aged prints pop up here and there, ornamenting a daring selection of bold colors that pronounce the garment’s versatility. The Russian ceremonial inspiration appropriated by the designer is visible, with elements seamlessly incorporated into his wearable styles. Head-to-toe harmony!
