The first generation of transsexuals: I AM A WOMAN NOW – the Dutch documentary
Style couldn’t be detached from this realistic and hilarious Dutch documentary I AM A WOMAN NOW.
Director Michiel van Erp portraits five transsexual women (Bambi-FR, Corinne-BE, Colette-NL, April-UK and Jean-DE) operated on during late 50’s until 70’s in Morocco. They all share one male Moroccan doctor Georges Burou from Casablanca, who was the male in charge of giving them a new physical perspective. The five women analyze with the doctor’s son how their surgical transformation brought them new sensual horizons. Bizarre or sweet, yet sometimes hampered by the outside world there’s a complete absence of regret. Socially tight, when we all try to find the youthful women they never had. Fantasies never end, its part of our human rights!
