Awarded with 50K, CAMIEL FORTGENS diverts the landscape of Dutch fashion – Text by OG
For real, yesterday in Amsterdam, Cultuurfonds awarded CAMIEL FORTGENS B.V. the renowned Mode Stipendium (€50,000) for its ten years of excellent dedication to globally speaking on behalf of Dutch fashion.
Surveyed by the Dutch Fashion Foundation, once announced by the spotless voice of its director Angélique Westerhof and after the show, the championed brand brought their witty humor to catering with beers and cheese cubes party snacks—bathing us all in joy.
As the old Dutch merchants navigated towards far horizons, the brand obtained a diploma overseas by hoarding international markets. Now that it has gained national recognition, Camiel Fortgens continues to move forward within the dynamic context of a small country, constantly switching, between adapting and reinventing.
What were all those invitees on location and guests online following the livestream celebrating in the end? Generosity first, towards the brand, but simultaneously, towards the entire Dutch textile and fashion sector by making clear that any working method can be inserted into the colossal fashion system as long as it develops its distinct voice. Most cherishing for this year’s award, succeeding even when scaled small.
While many other brands undergo transitions, trying to adjust to climate and environmental needs, the Cultuurfonds pointed out how a referential company today creates. Illuminating CAMIEL FORTGENS indicates that an ethical product designed in Amsterdam can win, and future generations can profit from its path and leadership, ultimately profiting and winning for every company.
