MARYAM KORDBACHEH’s formation
Last Monday before lunch, I sat for an update chat with Maryam Kordbacheh during Amsterdam’s Modefabriek. Kordbacheh was showing some of her latest work as part of the trade show’s innovative upcoming family, and telling under a modest tone her latest movements. Some perfume samples were next to the robust shoes (by Yelena Ryzhova) accessorizing her stand, the new product she will be launching later this year. – After competing in Hyères 2011 some good things happened she said. French perfumer Givaudan and the designer have found a romantic formula, it concentrates the ideal female according to Maryam. The bottle is under characterization, but the nasal message has already been found. Similarities in design process were obviously their matching point.
The same way fragrances are discovered, Maryam finds her colours. Her studio in the city of Rotterdam sometimes looks as an industrial laundry, colours everywhere when the dyeing process takes place. She shows me a unique picture of many ceramic flowers, where shapes and natural enamel tones reach an ergonomic balance. The same technique applies when moulding her female sculptures, she looks for equilibrium while discovering and building her own nature pieces. You have flowers, and then you have Kordbacheh’s crafted garments.
