MATTIJS VAN BERGEN SS2013: Proserpina’s goddess changes
2012 Dutch Fashion Award winner Mattijs van Bergen (1980) explicitly cuddles women with his garments, to the level of a melodic romance. The narrative of colorful disagreements in his latest collection are notorious, a fragile meticulous women refuses the rougher cavalier one, seen through the use of crunchy fabrics and their rigid behavior. The voice van Bergen murmurs is more of a ‘Come home to Papa’, than the one seducing a female’s soul as Martha Wainwright’s does with her ‘Proserpina’ released earlier this year (the designer’s main inspiration).
For van Bergen, changes in fashion are mandatory and necessary, mothers too. The designer has collaborated with his mother, who has helped design his jewelry form early days obtaining a colorful accessorized evening look. Congratulations Mattijs! Keep following your women!
