OG on exquisite debutants: Étranger FW2010 by Lifu Hsiao
Counting on some promising debutants (KARSSENBERG/GREIDANUS, Quoc Thang, Lifu Hsiao, etc, etc), the awaited Amsterdam Fashion Week gets ready to launch renovation within the national fashion system. Since 2004, the AFW – Amsterdam Fashion Week – has supported the introduction of many designers through their Official Schedule, Downtown Program and other satellite events, and created an interesting dynamic in the Dutch charming town. Let’s name it highlight or one of the cherries from the cake; Lifu Hsiao (Taiwan, 1980) is launching his first solo show FW2010 in a unique unrevealed location. Where the city architectural patrimony will be mixed with decent garments and refinement, ending in a modern Womenswear proposal.
Studying, living and working in Amsterdam have given Lifu Hsiao’s tremendous criteria to observe his hypothetical women. The women he treats, cares and helps to reach “humanity and emotions” through his designs, as he recalls. On January 29 at 9pm, the collection will be sent public to a selected audience and will reflect Lifu’s vision on fashion after his graduation in 2008 from the Fashion Institute Arnhem master’s. In 2009, the designer joined Veronique Branquinho’s team for internship, and now he is ready to share those incubated ideas. As his collection evokes comfort, so does his working space in Amsterdam.
