Paris SS2012: SACAI hits the runway
After some years distributing the Sacai brand exclusively through showrooms in Paris, Japanese designer Chitose Abe’s debuted her super feminine Sacai spring-summer 2012 products on the runway last Friday at L’Hôtel d’Evreux. The small venue gave a real “defilé” sensation when models walked on a metallic sanded floor delivering a gentle summer breeze between the two selective tribunes of guests.
The first look was an oversized white broidery trench-dress, extremely fresh and sexy while balancing on the runway. Transparencies were reiterative in the fabrics, but never solo; they were always accompanied by lace, knitted patches, cotton rivets and pleats, including one of Sacai’s strongest trademarks: a woven and knitted crimped fusion.
My favorite was Abe’s “perfecto” jacket interpretation, sharply fitted with visible zippers and elegant sleeves. A skirt is obviously required in women’s SS2012 wardrobe, and the offering by Sacai was of a particularly high standard – stunning with wearability!
